8:00AM: B-Ride Lake Almaden Loop w/ Mantelli (8:15 wheelsup)

About this event

Start at Almaden Lake, Llagas, Machaoo School for a quick stop and regroup, continue south to Gilroy. Climb Mantelli which is a challenging climb.  Then looping around to Chitactac Park for final water and food stop. Finally a long UVAS road TT and back. 56 miles, ~2000 ft.

Note:  This course has been modified to turn onto Scheller just past mile 10, so either download the course, or make sure you are with the group at this time.  This allows us 3 miles on Dougherty, which is a very low traffic road.

This ride features a very long 20 miles rollers of no stopping TT segments from the bottom of UVAS road all the way back to Almaden.  Tri Athlete's favorite training ground.

Beware of potential bumpy sections of roads in a few places.

Vincent is still OOO, so Theo will be leading this week.  (And he'll make sure to be packing his bike stuff this time!)

Overview:

If you are an old timer, you know the drill.

If you are new to the group or thinking about doing this for the first time, welcome!  The group is fun and a great way to get involved with the club.

Here are some hints and tips for first timers:

1.We meet inside the gates of Almaden Park. If you look at the picture below, most members will park on the road just before the park entrance, and bike the 1/8 of a mile into the park.  We normally gather right inside of the gate, in front of the rest rooms.

2. If you need water, this can be found at Chitaquac park, around halfway through the ride.

3. Once we get to Uvas park near mile 38, the group may spread apart so those that want a stronger time trial type finish can break away.  We will not regather the troop after this point, and while the trip home is fairly straight forward, please make sure you have downloaded the map and/or have a queue sheet to make sure you won't get lost.

4.We have an unofficial brick opportunity after the ride.

5.Theo often takes a few pictures of the ride.  If you are camera shy, just make sure to ask him to leave you out of the big picture and/or delete any evidence that you were there.

Theo will broadcast on the #general slack channel if there is any last minute changes, so subscribe and download to your phone!
