Both routes start and finish at Alameda Park Station ("where friends, family, & pups gather for fine food and beer") and stay together for the first 13 miles. From there, choose how scary you want your Halloween ride to get. Please note: Both rides follow primarily urban routes with frequent traffic lights and stop signs. The middle section of the B route provides a stretch of more open, non-urban riding.
B Route — The Trick
Ready for a few extra Halloween jitters? The B group heads into the Berkeley hills for a hefty dose of climbing, passing the festively lit Berkeley carousel before making its way back to Alameda.
Event leader: Mark Theiding (EBTC)
C Route — The Treat
Prefer your Halloween a little sweeter? The C group skips the big hills and stays mostly flat, returning along the scenic Bay Trail through Oakland Harbor before finishing with a hop across the water on the Alameda Water Shuttle.
Event leader: Bella Banburry (EBTC)
The After Party
Both routes are designed so that the groups arrive back at roughly the same time.
And every good Halloween adventure deserves a treat at the end! Stick around after the ride to hang out with your fellow SVTC and EBTC athletes at Alameda Park Station. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
