The Silicon Valley Triathlon Club invites SVTC members to join in a friendly, triathlon-sized workout and barbecue lunch to celebrate the 2024 training season!
Note that this is a self-supported workout, not a race. Courses will not be marked so have your own map/cue sheets below with you or on your device. All traffic signals and signs must be respected. No street closures or police support will be provided. No timing chips. Times will not be recorded.
Registration required in advance and limited to 75 persons.

Location: Coyote Point Recreation Area, 1701 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo CA 94401Coyote Point Recreation Area

$6 per car collected at park entrance

Workout: Geared for beginners and experienced athletes seeking tri-sized distances/transitions
Choose either a Sprint-sized or Olympic-sized workout
A non-competitive, untimed, congenial workout - not a race
Course: Swim in the Bay just off the beach at Coyote Point, Sprint or Oly distances
Bike up Crystal Springs (Sprint) or continue to Canada Rd & Edgewood (Olympic) out-and-back
Run within the park to the Bay Trail out-and-back (Sprint or Olympic)
You may choose to only do 1 or 2 of the legs if you prefer (e.g., bike-run or swim-bike or just the bike) or just the BBQ!

Schedule: Tentative - subject to delay - safety is paramount!
8:00am Park opens; arrive to check-in and set up your bike/transition
8:45am Olympic swim start (rolling, self-seeded start) [finish ~11:30-1:00)
9:15am Sprint swim start (rolling, self-seeded start) [finish ~11:00-12:30]
11:30- 1:30 BBQ

Sprint-sized workout:
- Swim 2 loops counterclockwise around the buoys just off the beach ~0.75 km SwimPDF

Notes/What to Bring:
- For the swim, figure 65-70 degrees in the water. For current temperature see https://seatemperature.info/coyote-point-water-temperature.html
- Wind and waves at Coyote Point are hard to predict though usually calmer in the morning; feel free to tailor your swim to the conditions and your level of comfort (e.g., swim closer to shore, swim one loop instead of two, or just swim to first buoy and back
- We suggest goggles, wetsuit, swim socks, bright swim cap, swim buoy, a jug of hot water to rinse off, and a towel.
- Bring run and bike gear too of course.
- From transition to the swim start is about 1000 ft - you may bring shoes and leave at the beach if you wish - or use swim socks
- Bring your own nutrition/hydration, but we'll have water, fruit, snacks, and drinks/ice at the Aid Station near the start/finish area.
